Pediatric Cardiology
Complete Care for the Smallest Hearts
Nearly one in every 100 babies born each year will have a congenital heart defect, the most common birth defect. About 25 percent of those children will need an intervention within the first year of life.
The Albany Med Health System is proud to offer the region's only comprehensive pediatric cardiology care center for patients of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, with congenital cardiac diseases.
Pediatric Heart Surgery
Families in the Capital Region are fortunate to have one of the state and nation's top pediatric cardiothoracic surgery programs at Albany Medical Center. Our Congenital Heart Program consistently ranks among the top performers for positive patient outcomes in New York State.
The program is led by Neil Devejian, MD, one of the most experienced pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons in the nation. He has performed more than 2,000 operations to correct congenital heart defects, and has more than two decades of experience treating the most complex cases. As director of the Congenital Heart Program, he also performs cardiac surgery for congenital conditions affecting adults.

Region's Only Pediatric Cath Lab
Albany Medical Center is home to the Capital Region's only pediatric cardiac catheterization lab.
Our staff of physicians, nurses, and cardiovascular technologists are specially trained to perform catheterization on the smallest children, including newborns.
Jess Randall, MD, specializes in congenital interventional cardiology. He provides advanced diagnostic and interventional services for all ages. Dr. Randall has performed many new and advancing interventional catheterization procedures, including catheter-based pulmonary valve replacement.
Comprehensive Heart Care
New patients, from infants to young adults, with known or potential heart conditions are comprehensively evaluated by the Albany Med Health System's outpatient pediatric cardiology group, Capital District Pediatric Cardiology Associates.
Our cardiologists work closely and collaboratively with Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Capital District Pediatric Cardiology Associates, and other pediatric subspecialty services to facilitate care for complex conditions. We serve the Capital Region with multiple outreach clinics and remote EKG readings.
