Our ophthalmologists have expertise in a wide range of diseases and disorders affecting the eye, including rare conditions that are treated at Albany Medical Center. These eye specialists are highly sought after in their particular field of eye care and have performed many of the region's first innovative procedures. Albany Medical Center performs cornea transplants in conjunction with the Center for Donation and Transplant in Albany.

Surgical procedures are performed at Albany Medical Center's South Clinical Campus at 25 Hackett Boulevard in Albany. Cornea, cataract and refractive surgery services are offered by Cornea Consultants of Albany. Surgeries also are available at Saratoga Surgery Center, on the Wilton Campus.

This group, located at the Lions Eye Institute in Albany, was the first in the region to perform innovative procedures including endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK), custom LASIK, blade-free LASIK, stem cell transplantation, artificial cornea (keratoprosthesis), phakic intraocular lenses (IOLs) and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) for the treatment of cataracts.
The team at Cornea Consultants specialize in the pathology of the ocular surface, cornea, iris and lens. They see patients with a wide variety of eye conditions and severity. They regularly conduct research and attend and contribute to major national and international meetings to stay abreast of any new developments in eye care and share their expertise.
Saratoga Surgery Center
We offer surgical services at two locations. Inpatient and outpatient surgery are performed at the Hospital. Outpatient surgery also is available at Saratoga Surgery Center, on our Wilton Campus. Whenever possible, we offer a minimally invasive approach, which means less discomfort and scarring as well as faster recovery times. For certain conditions, both minimally invasive and advanced robot-assisted surgery options are offered, enabling our surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures with extreme precision. We do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and well cared for.
