Dr. Asher is the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) and Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education for the Albany Med Health System. Dr. Asher is a 1998 graduate of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College Physician-Scientist Program. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. She is board-certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Asher is a Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and an affiliated faculty member of the Alden March Bioethics Institute. Dr. Asher completed an MS in Bioethics in 2010. She served as Residency Program Director in Emergency Medicine from 2010-2016 and Assistant Dean for GME from 2016-2023 when she took on the role of DIO and Associate Dean.

Dr. Asher’s interests include faculty development and program assessment in graduate medical education, ethical decision-making in urgent situations, and mentoring and advising students, graduate trainees, and junior faculty.
