Sarah Harney, MD, is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders. She treats children with all types of cancer and blood disorders.
She brings a wealth of knowledge to the Melodies team, having completed her medical degree at Columbia University, pediatric residency at Brown University, and fellowship training at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. She also brings a strong commitment to advancing health equity and advocating for patient safety. She has previously conducted research examining diversity in pediatric oncology clinical trials and believes that fostering diversity in clinical research is essential for improving outcomes for all patients.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Harney is passionate about medical education. She is a past participant in the American Society of Hematology Medical Educators Institute, a career development program for future leaders in hematology education. As part of the program, she designed a curriculum to teach pediatric residents about core topics in hematology. Dr. Harney is looking forward to working with residents and medical students at Albany Medical College and promoting trainee wellness. Dr. Harney has been appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Harney lives in Albany with her husband and son. She enjoys cooking, music, and hiking.
