Dr. White is one of the leading endourologists in upstate New York. He specializes in the treatment of adult and pediatric kidney stone disease and has extensive experience with laser lithotripsy and percutaneous stone removal procedures.
Albany Medical Center’s Department of Urology is a referral center for patients who have undergone unsuccessful stone removal procedures, and Dr. White often takes over these cases and guides patients to successful treatment outcomes. He was one of the first physicians in the region to perform laparoscopic renal surgery in 1998, and has performed more than 7,000 ureteroscopic stone removal procedures and more than 1,000 percutaneous stone removal procedures for treatment of complex stone disease.
In addition to complex stone disease, Dr. White’s research interests include metabolic/dietary interventions to decrease kidney stone formation and minimally-invasive technologies for the treatment of stone disease. He has conducted many clinical studies, including genetic testing for markers for rare stone diseases and clinical trials for stone prevention. He has published extensively in peer reviewed medical journals including the prestigious Journal of Urology, British Journal of Urology, and Journal of Endourology, and has traveled nationally and internationally to present his research. He also serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several scientific journals.
Dr. White is also residency program director for the Department of Urology’s residency training program and sits on many hospital committees related to patient care and quality improvement projects.
