Dr. DiGiovanni specializes in bone conservation techniques for hip replacement surgery and total knee arthroplasty surgery, fracture repair, ligament reconstruction, and arthroscopic surgery.
Dr. DiGiovanni has been in practice in Columbia County since 1985 and during that time, has served for six years as Chief of Surgery as well as serving many years on the Medical Executive Committee at Columbia Memorial Health, and is currently the President of Medical Staff at Columbia Memorial Health.
Dr. DiGiovanni grew up in Chatham, New York, attended St. Michael’s College and graduated magna cum laude in 1975. He then attended Georgetown University in a master’s program in biophysics for one year. Dr. DiGiovanni attended New York Medical College graduating with an MD in 1979. He served a surgical internship at Montefiore-Einstein Hospital in the Bronx and then attended an orthopedic surgical residency at Hospital for Joint Diseases, Orthopaedic Institute, in New York City.
Dr. DiGiovanni is board certified by The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has twice since recertified, having successfully taken two recertification examinations. Additionally, Dr. DiGiovanni is subspecialty board certified in arthroscopic surgery by the Arthroscopy Board of North America. Dr. DiGiovanni is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. DiGiovanni manages a wide variety of orthopedic patients conservatively and non-operatively, as well as surgically when necessary. He regularly attends annual educational conferences such as The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Convention and master's level courses in total knee and total hip arthroplasty.
