Dr. Genua leads the metabolic nutrition care program in the Department of Surgery's Division of Metabolic and Perioperative Support at Albany Medical Center.
Metabolic nutrition focuses on ensuring patients receive the right combination of nutrients after surgery or an extended illness, which can help support healing, increase immune function, and decrease the risk of complications.
In partnership with a patient's primary physician, Dr. Genua sees and manages complex pre- and post- surgical and medical patients who require an additional focus on metabolic nutrition, including those at increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
