Darryl DiRisio, MD

Dr. DiRisio is chair of the Department of Neurosurgery. He specializes in adult and pediatric spine surgery with a focus on cervical spondylosis and reconstructive lumbar spine procedures. He is one of very few physicians in the country who is involved in a study of reconstructing the lumbar spine without performing a fusion. Dr. DiRisio is also unique in that he has an engineering background and utilizes a biomechanical approach which helps him when performing complex spine surgeries. He seeks to produce optimal outcomes for patients, significantly improving their flexibility and range of motion while providing optimal pain relief. "My goal in treating my patients is to get them back to maximum function with minimum pain and an overall better quality of life," says Dr. DiRisio. Dr. DiRisio is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive care to patients with spinal conditions, while staying true to his compassionate and heartfelt nature.
