Volunteers from Albany Med Make Thanksgiving Brighter for Families
More than two dozen Albany Med employees came together to deliver meals to local residents and families as part of the annual Equinox Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner.
Equinox is a local human services organization whose mission is to change lives and strengthen communities by providing critical support and life-enhancing opportunities to those they serve.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Equinox’s traditional in-person community dinner moved to a contact-free delivery service with the help of local restaurants, donations and volunteers.
The volunteers from Albany Med, including drivers from Valet Park America, delivered nearly 650 meals to 235 homes in the Capital Region over two days during Thanksgiving week.
“This was a great opportunity to come together with my colleagues, some whom I had never met, and serve our community,” said volunteer Helen Park-Kim, who works in Albany Med’s inpatient pharmacy. “What an incredible experience to see the look of joy on the faces of the residents and hear their words of appreciation. This was a reminder that when we come together, we can make difference in people’s lives.”
The meals delivered by Albany Med were donated by CDPHP and prepared by catering company Eurest Food Service.
