On the Move: Visiting Nurses at Home and the Hospital
The Albany Med Health System unveiled a new, branded fleet of vehicles for staff to use as they visit patients throughout the region.
“As a certified home health agency, travelling to patient homes is the core of our business,” said Samantha DiCicco, RN, chief executive officer of the Visiting Nurses. “Providing a fleet of company vehicles would benefit our clinicians by eliminating the wear and tear on their own vehicles, our patients by being able to clearly see it is their clinician visiting their home, and our agency by gaining visibility as the cars travel throughout our community.”
Visiting Nurses now has nine new vehicles for physical and occupational therapists social workers, and a community liaison. Employees expected to drive at least 9,000 miles per year are eligible to use the new cars.
The Visiting Nurses aren’t always on the road . The organization also provides staffing support for the System’s four hospitals through the Staffing Alliance – an internal travel nursing agency for the System for RNs, LPNs, surgical and ultrasound technologists, and X-ray technicians at all System campuses. The alliance is also intended to serve as a pipeline for full-time in-hospital employment.
“The Staffing Alliance connects nurses and staff with roles that may better suit their needs at a given time, providing an opportunity for professional development, and putting them on the path to become full-time team members,” said DiCicco.
