Nutrition Specialist Dr. Bilal Ashraf Joins Albany Medical Center
Bilal Ashraf, MD, has joined the Division of Gastroenterology at Albany Medical Center, a member of the Albany Med Health System.
Dr. Ashraf cares for patients with complex nutritional needs, including those who are malnourished and must receive their nutrition by intravenous or tube feeding to survive.
People with severe digestive conditions, such as the inability to swallow, a motility disorder, or a shortened intestine, cannot consume food through their mouths or digest food in the intestines. Instead, they rely on IV nutrition (also called parenteral nutrition or PN, with nutrients infused through a vein) or tube feeding (also called enteral nutrition or EN, with nutrients administered directly into the stomach or small intestine).
Dr. Ashraf completed a residency in internal medicine at University of Central Florida/HCA Florida Ocala Hospital in Ocala, Fla. He earned his medical degree from Lahore Medical and Dental College in Pakistan.
Dr. Ashraf is seeing adult patients on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) at Albany Medical Center’s Division of Gastroenterology, 43 New Scotland Ave., Floor 4, in Albany. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call 518-262-5276.
