Dr. Scott Beegle Named a Whole Health Hero

Pulmonologist Scott Beegle, MD, has been named a 2020 Empire BlueCross Whole Health Hero, in recognition of his exceptional leadership, dedication and empathy through the pandemic.

A graduate of Albany Medical College, Dr. Beegle has been caring for Capital Region residents his whole career. As director of Albany Med’s medical intensive care unit, he led the medical ICU team through the initial Covid-19 surge and has continued to care for Covid patients through the pandemic.

Dr. Beegle’s Whole Health Hero citation credited him, in part, for always placing the needs of others before his own: “He consistently ensures that the patients in the ICU get the best care while making sure the nurses, doctors and other staff are safe and have the equipment needed to do their work safely.”

Earlier this year in partnership with Albany Business Review, Empire BlueCross solicited Whole Health Hero nominations from the community, from which 25 local honorees were selected. The awardees were announced as part of a virtual event last month.
