Dr. Jill Genua Joins Albany Medical Center

Jill Genua, MD, has joined the new Division of Metabolic and Perioperative Support within the Department of Surgery at Albany Medical Center, where she will lead the expansion of metabolic nutrition care.

Metabolic nutrition focuses on ensuring patients receive the right combination of nutrients after surgery or an extended illness, which can help support healing, increase immune function, and decrease the risk of complications.

In partnership with a patient’s primary physician, Dr. Genua sees and manages complex pre- and post- surgical and medical patients who require an additional focus on metabolic nutrition, including those at increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Dr. Genua completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Fla. She completed a residency in general surgery at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College.

Dr. Genua sees hospitalized patients at Albany Medical Center. After they’ve been discharged, she sees patients for follow-up appointments at the outpatient office at 99 Delaware Ave. in Albany.
