Director of Orthopedic Oncology Named to Prestigious National Board
Matthew DiCaprio, MD, director of Orthopedic Oncology, has been named director-elect of the American Board of Orthopeadic Surgery (ABOS). Dr. DiCaprio will serve in this role on the board through 2032.
ABOS seeks to establish standards for the education of orthopedic surgeons. Those chosen to serve on the 21-member ABOS Board of Directors come from around the United States and are chosen following nominations from the American Orthopeadic Association, the American Academy of Orthopeadic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
“It is truly an honor to be selected by my peers to be one of two orthopedic surgeons in the country to serve as director-elect of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery,” Dr. DiCaprio said. “The platform will grant me the opportunity to make a lasting impact for the field of orthopedic surgery during my decade of service.
Dr. DiCaprio’s areas of focus include bone and soft tissue sarcomas, metastatic bone disease, benign bone and soft tissue masses, and general orthopedics. He is also the founder of Sarcoma Strong, a nonprofit that assists sarcoma patients and their families through awareness, support, and fundraising for research about the disease.
