Cantina Kids Fun Run Has Record-Breaking Year
The 16th annual Cantina Kids Fun Run drew more than 1,100 participants and raised $72,000 to support pediatric emergency services at Saratoga Hospital, according to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation.
The funds raised go directly to pediatric related training, certifications, equipment and technology, enabling Saratoga Hospital to provide a high level of care to pediatric patients and their families.
On Sunday, June 2, the run in Congress Park hit a record-breaking year for runner participation and the event support was tremendous, with more than 100 Saratoga Hospital employees and community members volunteering their time to ensure an amazing experience for all.
“We are so grateful for this event and all that Heath and Jeff (Ames) have done to make it happen since they established it in 2008,” said Jill VanKuren, president and CEO of Saratoga Hospital. “Their passion and dedication have resulted in a longstanding tradition in the community. It’s particularly inspiring to see former runners become volunteers as they grow older, still wanting to stay connected. It’s an amazing thing.”
Heath and Jeff Ames, creators and co-chairs of the event, also hosted “Cocktails for a Cause,” the kick-off to the event held at the Cantina in May, where more than 120 supporters gather and garner support for the upcoming run.
“We are proud to have created the only run in Saratoga Springs that’s designed especially for kids, and even more thrilled that it brings so many families in our community together,” said Heath Ames, event co-chair and owner of the Cantina restaurant in Saratoga. “Over the years, the funds raised have made a difference for every pediatric patient treated at Saratoga Hospital. Knowing that quality pediatric emergency care is important to all parents, we created the event as a way to give back to the community and we are so grateful for the participation and support we receive each year!”
