Albany Medical Center Welcomes Gynecologic Oncologist Dr. Michael Cohen
Gynecologic Oncologist Michael Cohen, MD, has joined Albany Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and will also serve as assistant professor at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Cohen will care for patients with various gynecologic cancers, including ovarian, uterine, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancers. He will also treat patients with preinvasive disease and perform complex benign gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Cohen has special research interests in caring for patients with advanced cancer, advance care planning, and the role of hope in cancer. His research has been presented at national conferences, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), both of which he is a member of.
Dr. Cohen was named a Top Fellow in Medical School Education during his gynecologic oncology fellowship at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Brown University/Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, R.I., where he was education chief resident. He earned his medical degree at University of Massachusetts Medical School and his Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biochemistry from Brown University.
Dr. Cohen is married with four children and resides in Rensselaer County.
He is seeing patients at Albany Medical Center’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 391 Myrtle Ave., Albany.
