Albany Medical Center Names Kevin Zeng as Next Chief Nursing Officer

Kevin Zeng, MSN, RN, has been named vice president and Chief Nursing Officer for Albany Medical Center. Zeng will begin his new role in July.

Zeng comes to the Capital Region from northern California, where he most recently served as director of patient care services at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center. Zeng oversaw operations for various clinical departments and more than 600 employees. He led multiple projects aimed toward transforming workforce culture and the patient experience.

Prior to Kaiser, Zeng was a critical care nurse practitioner in cardiothoracic surgery, coordinating and providing comprehensive care and conducting clinical research at Stanford University Hospital, the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, and Duke University Hospital. He began his nursing career at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.

Zeng was drawn to the Albany Med Health System for its mission of patient care, research, and education. His interest in medicine began as a hospital volunteer as a teenager. He was later inspired by his grandfather to pursue a role in nursing leadership, which led him to earning various degrees and certifications while working in the health care field.

“The intersection of strategy, operations, and culture have been my guiding principles throughout my journey in health care,” Zeng said. “Nurses touch lives every day, helping people achieve the best medical outcomes and answer any challenge. I look forward to working with the incredible nurses at Albany Medical Center and helping to move forward the mission of the Albany Med Health System.”

Zeng received his Master of Science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania where he also earned board certification in acute care for gerontology. He received his Bachelor of Science in nursing administration from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
