Albany Med offers multiple testing options for HIV, making it easier than ever to get tested
National HIV Testing Day (June 27) promotes the importance of testing in detecting, treating and preventing HIV. At Albany Med, multiple testing options make it easier than ever to get tested.
Free, confidential testing for adolescents and young adults (ages 13-24) is available through Friday, June 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Specialized Care Center for Adolescents and Young Adults at Albany Med, located at 22 New Scotland Avenue, 3rd floor, Albany. Please call (518) 262-9789 to schedule a same-day appointment; walk-ins may be available.
For adults, free, confidential drive-up and walk-in testing is available throughout the year, Monday – Friday, at Albany Med’s clinic at 1 Clara Barton Drive. An at-home option is also available for a limited time. Please call 518-264-5839 or email [email protected] for more information or to request an at-home test. For more information on HIV testing for adults, please call 518-262-4043.
All tests are reliable and do not require insurance. The test takes 20 minutes and is a healthy practice for anyone, regardless of age, gender expression, sexual orientation or health status. The greatest risk is not knowing.
In Upstate New York, 1 in 14 people living with HIV are unaware they have it.
