Meeting The Needs Of Our Community

The Columbia Memorial Health Department of Psychiatry is here to meet the mental health needs of our community by providing the highest quality and most comprehensive, multidisciplinary, patient-centered psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care available in the Hudson Valley region.

Inpatient Care

For those in the community who are in need of acute psychiatric care, we provide intensive treatment on our secure, state-of-the-art, 22-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. The unit is staffed 24 hours per day with experienced and highly trained personnel across multiple disciplines and meets all of the psychosocial and medical needs of patients during their stay.

Treatment modalities include an intensive group therapy program, individual and family therapy, and milieu therapy, as well as medication management where indicated. A determination that admission to the psychiatric unit is appropriate or necessary is made following a thorough and comprehensive evaluation by our psychiatric screening staff in consultation with the psychiatrist on call. This assessment takes place in a secure and separate area within the Emergency Department that is dedicated solely to our work with prospective inpatients.

Outpatient Care

The Columbia Memorial Psychiatric and Psychotherapy Center is our outpatient practice with offices in Hudson and Catskill. Our office staff is available to assist patients.

The outpatient clinical staff is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, as well as licensed social workers and mental health counselors. The average length of time in practice across our outpatient staff is over 20 years. We provide individual therapy, couples and family therapy, and outpatient group therapy.

Services are currently provided in-person and via telehealth.

Our clinicians collaborate with our psychiatrists and primary care providers in the community. We also provide therapy for children over age 10. We hold the health, safety, and privacy of our clients in the highest regard as we collaborate with them in the effort to enhance well-being in all areas of their lives.
