Accredited Hospital for Quality and Patient Safety
By earning accreditation from DNV GL – Healthcare, Glens Falls Hospital has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV GL’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation. DNV GL is a world-leading certification body that operates in more than 100 countries.
Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program
A Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program is a facility that handles 650 or more newly diagnosed cancer cases each year and provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services on site or by referral. The members of the medical staff are board certified in the major medical specialties, including oncology where available, and participation in clinical research is required.
Stroke Center
Glens Falls Hospital has received certification from DNV GL Healthcare as a Primary Stroke Center, affirming the hospital’s readiness to handle a full range of stroke-related medical problems. The DNV GL Healthcare Primary Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.
Accreditation of Ultrasound, CT Scanner, PET Scanner, and MRI
The American College of Radiology (ACR) accredits facilities in ten different imaging modalities. The ACR offers programs in all modalities now mandated for accreditation under the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) as well as under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
The Regional Diabetes and Nutrition Center
The American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) has accredited Self-Management Education Classes. Accreditation is awarded to programs that meet the national standards for Diabetes-Self Management Education and Support set forth by the AADE Diabetes Education Accreditation program.
Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Accredited Facility
Accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) means that Glens Falls Hospital and Adirondack Cardiology have undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review. IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of Echocardiography.
Vascular Testing Accredited Facility

Radiation Therapy Accredited Practice
The C.R. Wood Cancer Center has received Radiation Therapy Accreditation from the American College of Radiation Oncology. This practice has met the requirements established by the American College of Radiation Oncology necessary for high quality care and the safety of patients undergoing radiation therapy.
Mammography Accreditation Program (Breast Center)
The Glens Fall Hospital Breast Center has received Mammography Accreditation from the American College of Radiology. The Mammography Accreditation Program provides facilities with peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, image quality and radiation dose. The Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires all U.S. mammography facilities to be accredited.
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
The American College of Radiology has designated Glens Falls Hospital as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, ultrasound guided breast biopsy and breast MRI. This peer review has determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
Practice Transition Program With Distinction
The American Nurses Credentialing Center has accredited the Nurse Residency Program at Glens Falls Hospital as a Practice Transition Program with Distinction. The current workplace settings included in this accreditation with distinction designation are: Medical-Surgical and Telemetry/Neuroscience The ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation validates hospital residency programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) into practice settings that meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence. Nurses in accredited transition programs, like the Nurse Residency Program at Glens Falls Hospital, experience curricula that promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills and professional behaviors necessary to deliver safe, high-quality care.
Clean Facility
The Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) designated Glens Falls Hospital as a Clean Facility. The AHE is the recognized authority in health care environmental services, and professional membership group of the American Hospital Association. AHE released the Pathways to Clean certificate program as a resource for members and the environmental services community at large in response to Covid-19. The program includes training and education content related to Covid-19, infection prevention strategies, cleaning, disinfection, sanitation, emerging pathogens, and preparedness for biological events.
