Meeting The Needs Of Our Community
The Columbia Memorial Health Department of Psychiatry meets the mental health needs of our community by providing high-quality, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, patient-centered psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care.
Inpatient Care - A Different Approach
At Columbia Memorial Health, our inpatient psychiatry program has a commitment to the patient experience. The treatment team assigned to each patient includes a psychiatric provider, social worker, and registered nurse who meet with the patient every weekday. In each team meeting the treatment plan is reviewed and updated to the patient’s evolving experience.
Our comprehensive therapy program includes individual and family therapy as well as a seven-day-a-week intensive group therapy program that includes psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills groups, addictive behavior therapy, expressive therapy, peer support, and physical activity. Our clinical team includes licensed social workers, certified peer advocates, certified expressive therapists, and certified alcoholism and substance abuse counselors (CASAC).
We pride ourselves in delivering a compassionate, trauma-informed program that emphasizes the patient’s needs and engages each person in their own care plan.
Safe, Secure Unit
For individuals in need of acute psychiatric care, we provide intensive treatment in our secure, state-of-the-art, 22-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. The unit is staffed 24/7 with experienced and highly trained health care professionals across multiple disciplines to meet the psychosocial and medical needs of patients during their stay.
A determination that admission to the psychiatric unit is appropriate or necessary is made following a thorough and comprehensive evaluation by our psychiatric screening staff in consultation with the psychiatrist on call. This assessment takes place in a secure and separate area in the Emergency Department.
Outpatient Care
The Columbia Memorial Health Psychiatric and Psychotherapy Center (CMPPC) has offices in Hudson and Catskill.
The CMPPC provides a spectrum of mental health services in an outpatient setting.
Master’s-level counselors are embedded in the primary care setting in a collaborative care model to assist in the needs of patients of that clinic. Services include assessment and treatment of medical compliance and mental health issues to psychiatric consultation on psychopharmacological medication issues. Collaborative care staff determine need for referrals to other appropriate services and oversee the implementation of this process.
CMPPC also offers outpatient psychiatric treatment for individuals, couples, and families experiencing mental health issues, adolescent through adult. This includes psychopharmacological treatment by clinic psychiatrists in conjunction with ongoing engagement in psychotherapy with Master’s- and PhD-level clinicians. Group therapy services, online and in-person, are also provided, as well as some psychological testing.
All services in the program are provided through in-person and telehealth modalities that fit the needs of the client.
We hold the health, safety, and privacy of our clients in the highest regard as we collaborate with them to enhance wellbeing in all areas of their lives.
Telehealth appointments are available through the MyChart patient portal.
