Alumni Annual Fund

The Alumni Annual Fund is critical to advancing Albany Medical College’s mission and highest priorities, making an immediate impact on student scholarships, research initiatives, educational programs, and enhancements to our learning environment. Philanthropy allows the college to stay on the leading edge by making upgrades to our technology and learning tools, learn first-hand about the social determinants of health through our Service Learning programs, and alleviate the financial burden for our passionate future physicians and scientists.

Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital

Annually, more than 100,000 sick and injured children from northeastern New York and western New England visit the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital.

The Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center is the only children’s hospital in the region, but we also have the only childhood cancer and blood disorder center, the only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and the only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Most importantly, the Children’s Hospital treats all children, regardless of ability to pay.

Massry Family Children's Emergency Center

Opened in 2018, the Massry Family Children’s Emergency Center is the only one of its kind in northeastern New York and western New England. Gifts enable us to provide a safe and special environment where children and teenagers are tended to by experts in pediatric emergency medicine. This bright, family- friendly facility is located adjacent to, but totally separate from, the existing Emergency Department.

Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders

In the United States, more than 13,000 children under the age of 21 are diagnosed with cancer every year. But the survival rate continues to improve, averaging over 80 percent – thanks to increasingly specialized treatments, leading-edge expertise, and ground-breaking research.

The Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital is leading the way. We are the only provider of care for children and teens with cancer and blood disorders in the 25 counties we serve. Treating more than 1,600 children annually, The Melodies Center is a regional health care resource, offering highly specialized and effective care to the children of our region.

Albany Medical Center Scholars Program

Ensuring access to education is fundamental to our overall mission. To that end, we offer a medical education to students who aspire to become physicians and help others—regardless of their financial means.

To continue to attract the best and brightest students, the college must be able to provide significant scholarship support and through gifts made to the Albany Med Scholars Program, we able to address student financial aid needs, which allows them to focus solely on their education, without the burden of debt.

Every day, basic science researchers and clinicians at Albany Medical Center collaborate in the quest to find cures and new treatments for diseases. Philanthropic gifts to research help to drive innovation and supports leading-edge programs ands scientists who strive to identify and develop solutions to illnesses.

Our Basic Science departments are: Regenerative and Cancer Cell Biology, Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Immunology and Microbial Disease, and Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics.
