Forbes Names Albany Medical Center Among Best-In-State Employers

Designation Based on Nationwide Survey

Forbes has named Albany Medical Center one of the best employers in New York State. The award is based on surveys of more than 160,000 people working for large companies in the U.S.

Forbes joined with Statista Inc., a statistics portal and industry ranking provider, to ask participants across several business sectors including health care and social services how likely they would be to recommend their current employer to others. The company also collected data from similar surveys given to friends and family of employees or those working in similar industries.

“Our workforce makes our mission possible,” said Albany Med Health System President and CEO Dennis P. McKenna, MD. “Each day, more than 10,000 colleagues bring their distinct talents to more than 900 different roles—all of which are critical to provide the highest quality patient care, research, and education to the people of our communities. This best-in-state designation recognizes the value held by each and every member of our team, the many opportunities we offer, and our commitment to an environment that empowers individuals to make a difference.”

Albany Medical Center has continuously invested in initiatives to grow and support its workforce. More than half of the hospital’s total budget is dedicated to salaries and benefits and offers numerous advantages and wellness programs. Multiple career opportunities extend to both clinical and nonclinical roles.

Earlier this year, Albany Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2024 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group highlighting its diverse and inclusive work environment. Using a similar research methodology, the Newsweek designation involved large-scale confidential online surveys conducted among employees from U.S. companies, as well as an assessment of publicly accessible data, discussions, and interviews with human resources professionals.
