Specimen Collection: | 1.5 mL of fluid in Sterile Container (Preferred) or anaerobic transport container. |
Minimum Volume: | 1 mL for culture, in addition 0.2 mL for Joint Infection PCR panel. |
Handling Instructions for Offsite Areas: | Order routine culture in conjunction with this test. Transport at room temperature within 24 hours. |
Reference Values: | Negative DNA by PCR for organisms and resistance genes listed: Gram Positive Bacteria: Anaerococcus prevotii/vaginalis, Clostridium perfringens, Cutibacterium avidum/granulosum, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Finegoldia magna, Parvimonas micra, Peptoniphilus, Peptostreptococcus anaerobius, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus lugdunensis, Streptococcus spp., Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, & Streptococcus pyogenes.
