Dr. Zhang specializes in treating patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, and heart failure, among other conditions. He performs total arterial revascularization for coronary artery disease and minimally invasive aortic valve replacement.
Fellowship trained in ventricular assist device and transplant surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, Dr. Zhang completed a residency in cardiac surgery at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, and received his medical degree from Shanghai Medical University, China.
He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery and is on the editorial board of the Clinical Case Reports Journal. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen articles in peer-reviewed publications, and currently has a patent pending on a device to aid blood flow to the heart when the coronary artery is blocked.
