| Specimen Collection: | 10 mL blood (lavender, sodium heparin green or lithium heparin green top tube). Place on ice. Deliver to Special Chemistry immediately. Patient should be fasting for four or more hours without smoking. Walnuts, bananas, and α-methyldopa (Aldomet) should be avoided for a week prior to sampling. No gel. |
