Dr. DiBrito specializes in hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal malignancy and has special interest in managing liver metastases from colorectal cancer. She will see patients with cancer or benign lesions involving the stomach, small intestine, liver, pancreas and biliary tree, spleen, and other intraabdominal and retroperitoneal locations. Dr. DiBrito is certified in robotic surgery and will use a minimally invasive approach for pancreas, liver, and gastric surgeries, when possible.

“My goal is to bring a cancer-centric, multidisciplinary approach, using the most leading-edge evidence to deliver the best cancer care possible to the patient,” said Dr. DiBrito. “The management of specific conditions like colorectal liver metastases is evolving extremely quickly, and the newest approach can render previously stage IV patients disease free. It is imperative to get the word out to patients and providers that multifocal colorectal liver metastases can be treated successfully.”

Her research focuses on equity of cancer care delivery and reducing implicit bias in cancer care and clinical trials. Dr. DiBrito has several publications in various journals, including Reducing Implicit Bias: The Association of Women Surgeons #HeForShe Task Force Best Practice Recommendations in Journal of the American College of Surgeons. She has manuscripts in progress and is one of the editors of the 7th edition of the MD Anderson Handbook on Surgical Oncology.

Dr. DiBrito earned her medical degree at Boston University, completed her surgical residency at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, a Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and she earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Investigation at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. DiBrito is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
