Dr. Allen's clinical interests cover a broad range of adult and pediatric ophthalmic maladies; her research focuses on resident surgical education. She previously won the department’s Golden Apple award for teaching.

Dr. Allen completed an ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical College. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical College and her doctoral degree in neuroanatomy from the University of Rochester.
